Except this time, it’s for the American ones – aren’t I fair and nice to everyone? *halo*
Tell Congress: Investigate News Corporation!
I’m not terribly surprised that there are claims that News Corp//News International attempted to get 9/11 numbers and whatnot. It was a big story, and I’m sure everyone wanted a scoop of the horror to call their own. Whatever the case, I abhor Fox News for the fear and lies it slings, and how it takes advantage of people who are riled up to use them as little foot soldiers in wars to save a country that only ever existed in the minds of ad writers, artists, and dreamers.
Oh, don’t get me wrong – I don’t like CNN or MSNBC either, as they’re also biased. I honestly cannot name a single news source out of the US that I would name unbiased; I’ve been a BBC subscriber since BBC News started their online service in the 90s. By the same token, I’m ambivalent to the round the clock news coverage that exists in this day and age. I adore being able to find out what’s happening any time of day or night, but I think it’s turned us all into little crack addicts, waiting for our next tiny fix as we rummage through the detritus of the already-known trying to keep our junkie habit afloat. And of course, doesn’t help that good news seems to be in short supply, as it doesn’t get the ratings…
Anyways, go sign the petition, or not. I have and will encourage people to as well because I think it’s the right thing to do. If you don’t – that’s cool too; viva la difference!
