Public Lack of Service
I don’t know about you guys, but I hate using phones. I hate the sound of them ringing, I hate having to use them, etc, etc, and so forth. So add in the fact that you’re stuck playing tag because nobody wants to actually help you? Ooooh lawdylawd, it’s not nice. Suffices to say that I’ve spent the last week in a right knot, and can only pray that going in person and politely cane-shaking will sort out this particular knot!
But that’s the thing – why do people think it okay to fob you off? I know that some people are just attention seeking, but introverted me, I don’t like wasting my time and effort. Considering how stressful and tiring I find interactions in general (preferring to save the best of myself for those who actually come to me one-on-one!), and the fact that I actually have to spend the time trying to script what I’m going to say so I don’t come off a blathering idiot that’s easy to bowl over, it tends to make the whole thing an even bigger excruciating torture than it probably is to most people. I kind of wonder if this fobbing off is just an extroverted thing, that the average extrovert won’t have a real problem chasing things up, while the introvert tears out hair…
Ah well.
I’m not really sure what to add past that, since that’s the only thing really on my mind. Maybe I’ll feel fresher tomorrow after I go give myself an ulcer and fever blisters knocking heads… maybe. 😉
