Reuniting with Old Friends//Unraveling Knots
As is wont to happen when you’re life is already insane, I forgot the power supply for my laptop when I went to work today. As my laptop isn’t super duper hi-fi newness, the best battery life I can eke out without damaging my eyes is about an hour; this doesn’t work well for a work day.
So instead of getting any proper work done, I spent the day with my old friend upstairs, ye ancient janky PC. I’d bought it for my then-boyfriend and housemate Tom back in 2006… refurb… so not exactly the poshest kit. But yet, even with all of 3/4 gig of ram and Windows XP Service Pack 3, she runs kind of decently. I didn’t finish all the updating I wanted/needed to do today, but I suspect I’ll finish it off tomorrow. 🙂 I’ve got a printer driver drama to conquer for the nth time (XP machine connecting to a printer that is connected to a Vista/7 machine and not wanting to play nice about finding the printer while installing the drivers, etc), and some optimization to do before… well, before I probably ignore it again for some time. *blush*
Otherwise, my mind is currently busy wallowing in a rare patch of relief. Things behind the scenes here have been… hectic… as the lax posting has probably more than shouted. *chuckles* I’m not sure that I’ll have that much to offer this week either, other than the vague quasi-promise that next week might see this massive knot of insanity unraveled enough for me to try to be interesting/opinionated/made of green cheese.
For now, definitely going to wallow in doing nothingness, and then maybe consider trying to poke ideas into a story form for this week… maybe. Maybe I’ll just curl up in my current book – I feel like I’ve been neglecting my reading hardcore lately. 🙂
