All the Right/Wrong Words
Today will likely be short, because I am terribly, terribly distracted. Thankfully, I actually spotted something worth commenting on in the news today!
The words that could unlock your child

The article made me smile, because I know just what power words have over a person when it comes to learning and doing. How it can make a person do only in the hopes of receiving praise. How misplaced praise can breed confusion and self-doubt. And how just slightly changing your wording can make a world of difference between encouragement and a pass to failure.
Of course, going off on a tangent – this is the internet. All we have here are our words and images… unless you’re one of those YouTubin’ types and do everything via video. But even with that extra element of expression, the right words said the right way make all the difference. And of course, there’s the problems of being too wordy, or not wordy enough – communication is kind of a hard thing to do right. Maybe that’s why most people stick to the shallowest levels of the pool, hee hee. That’s not for me, but I try hard to not fault those who are too scared to get in past the ankles. Emphasis on try – there’s a lot of things that I’m working to find some tolerance for.
Anyways, what does this blather boil down to? Spend your words well, to nurture, to help grow people and friendships and relationships around you in meaningful ways. Not as a plaster or a patch of paint, but as some right proper fertilizer, yo yo. And y’know… accept that good things will always take some effort – there is no easy button, and if you’re wanting one… think about why. 😉
