Sunshine?!
Allo from sunny England. Yes, you heard me right – sunny.
And so what do Brits do when the sun is shining and they have a long weekend? Well, they either get the heck out of dodge, or they opt to go to the garden centre, ha ha. We opted for the latter; we loaded up this morning and went to pick up… well. We’d initially only intended to purchase a shiny new weed remover that has been taunting us from the telly. My husband was confident that it would be of use and work well in our rock garden (as in, we don’t have grass – we have rocks. I’d much prefer grass…). So sure, I encourage him to pick up new toys, so we did. And then we spotted the fence painting thingie that has been singing a siren call at us for years. That, and my mother-in-law loves to lovingly nag us for being slow to paint the fence. I thought it would be a nice surprise to finally have it done after… how long have we lived here, again?
Improvement – get some!
And then we spotted other bits of this and that that remind us that our garden is crap, we’ve been meaning to paint for years, etc. We’re still managing to avoid the call of internal painting, but we did fall victim to gardening calls. So the hus and I have been, and shall be, doing lots of weeding today. I’m also doing a few bits of planting, and we’re planning further planting. Once again, this’ll surprise the pants off of my mother-in-law, who tends to show up mid-May with a small fortune of plants and whip me up a garden that way, apologising all the while, ha ha. Bless that woman – I do so appreciate her bringing bits of colour into our yard.
So sure, we’ll see how this goes. I’m not going to count on us being so productive as to finally ditching the nasty shed and getting a small greenhouse, but maybe we’ll surprise ourselves. 🙂
