Oh, Hi…
Unless you’re under a rock, you’re probably aware that the media is beyond flooded with the news that Osama Bin Laden has been found, killed, and buried at sea. I’ve not managed to spot anything in the news around that that isn’t nattering about our upcoming AV election – are you going to vote? You should if you can. Or, of course, the fizzle-out of Royal Wedding coverage – it was totally prudent of the Duke and Duchess to put off their honeymoon for a bit.
Anyways, I’ve made a conscious decision to not join in the whooping it up or discussion of things related to that at current. I might not at all – I have thoughts and opinions, but I don’t think they’re terribly important. The main things, for me, are hoping that people realize that this isn’t a stupid Hollywood movie – the credits aren’t about to roll, and things aren’t going to magically end. Unfortunately, I suspect there’s going to be a huge shitstorm because, z0mgee, everything isn’t magically fixed.
That’s not even going to the not-so-bright children who willfully surrendered their freedoms – they’re going to be pissed when Uncle Sam doesn’t give those back. Because, I’m sorry, if you gave them up thinking that they’d make you safe, you might just be a little slow. Okay, okay, perhaps that’s a bit mean of me, but I have spent the past decade increasingly frustrated at people who want to dive in the hole and pull the hole in around them, and then get uppity that not everyone is so scared of their own shadow as they are! Life isn’t easy, there’s always going to be threats and dangers, but oh, deity forbid people are expected to be adult, take personal responsibility, etc…
See? Easy to get het up in the wake of things, ha ha. But hey, it should hopefully all calm down in a few days. In the meantime, I can only hope that people remember that we’re all human beings, and to be mindful to not be a sore winner. 😉
