Go Vote
I’m feeling rather under weather because of… oh… the weather… so I’m not going to tax myself trying to be clever here. That, and I turned my brain into jelly writing a short story in a few hours flat for a contest my mother pointed me at last night. I definitely don’t expect to win, but at least I gave it a go and took part.
And that’s what I’m going to spend my tiny bit of energy on today – encouraging my fine friends here in the United Kingdom to get off your duff and vote. Even if you go and do something cutesy to invalidate your voting paper, it’s still you going and taking part in democracy. That’s commendable enough in and of itself, I think. Oh sure, there are some that say that it’s all a joke and that we don’t really get any say no matter what we do, and you know what? They might be right. But on the off-chance they aren’t, it’s not that hard to go tick a few boxes and say that you care about the land you live in//are a citizen of.
I unfortunately won’t be joining you this election, as I am not a citizen yet. However, I did finally mail off my citizenship application yesterday, and you’re welcome to track its progress with me here on the blog. I might add in an extra line, as my husband has confirmed:
