The Sound of…
I find myself spending time I should probably be working this morning poking around the TARDIS Index File wiki, fun fun. I’m a relative newcomer to Dr. Who – the first episodes I saw in whole were the two-parter that saw out David Tennant, and welcomed in Matt Smith. Oh sure, I’ve been aware of the show my entire life (meaning that I’m well aware that it didn’t magically come into being in the last decade ;D), but sci-fi itself has only really warmed on me in the past couple of years. Before that, I was fantasy, or GTFO; even if I wanted to be an astronaut as a wee tiny, I just… didn’t care about reaching for the stars as such. Perhaps it’s because in my advancing age I can actually appreciate the psuedo-science and dreamy ideas that go into it, while anyone can stick a cone on a pony or wings on a girl. *grins*
So yes, it was the goofy git from Northampton who is *cries* nearly a year my junior that roped me in, not the yummy Scotsman, or beaky ol’ Eccleston. But then, I’ve immensely enjoyed anything I’ve seen written by Steven Moffat (Coupling and Sherlock), so I guess that might also contribute to it as well. All I know is that I’m going to enjoy the living heck out of this weekend’s cliffhanger episode, and definitely look forward to seeing if my speculation on things relating to Amy and her family are true!
Otherwise, I’m just chuckling at something that looks nearly Darwin Awards worthy:
Russian who buried himself alive dies by mistake
http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-europe-13623938
Obviously, he cannot win because he’s already had a child (poor baby :/), but really… luck? I have to say, sir… not impressed. At least I can console myself chuckling at this instead:
Tesco mistake leads to beer rush

Mmm, bedlam.
And finally, everyone loves a happy ending, right? And being reunited with a loved one is always classic:
Joshua Kaufman’s Mac recovered with ‘Hidden’ app clues
http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-us-canada-13624265
As far as I can tell, the program he was using that enabled him to recover this laptop, Hidden, is for Macs only. I don’t see anything analogue for PC laptops, so in that, Macs get my grudging nod… and the only one they’ll probably ever get from me. I don’t like the OS, I don’t like how overpriced they are, and anytime I see them pointing out their superiority because they don’t get PC viruses (of course not – you get Mac viruses!), I snigger quite a bit. Because, of course, the more people that use Macs, the more viruses that will be written for them, etc etc etc. But hey – that’s just me. I have some friends that rather adore Macs, and that’s fine. Just don’t expect me to join in with it. š
So erm… c’est la! And if for some random reason you rather enjoy my random rambles, why don’t you go vote for my blog? Come now – stroke a girl’s ego, why dontcha? *grins*
