Welcome to England – it’s hooooooooot. My husband turned our little A/C unit on before leaving for work, and I’m ridiculously grateful. Because of the shop downstairs, it’s only managing to hold it down from 29C/84F to 27C/81F. The temp is bearable (if only just!), but the removal of humidity from the room… salvation. There are supposed to be some thunderstorms tonight, and I sincerely hope this to be true; I’m from Texas, and it’s not summer without a good thunderstorm. Just… something about the glorious light show, the percussion of shaking buildings – it’s magical to me.

But then, I can say that of most weather; I sometimes suspect I should’ve been a meteorologist like my brother-in-law-to-be. I love the threat of tornadoes, the tag-ends of hurricanes, blizzards, hail and fog; Mother Nature astounds and delights without fail. She also devastates, but that doesn’t make me any less reverent. If anything, it makes me more respectful – she’s not a lady to mess with, and I bow to her might. Maybe that’s why I’ve not been blown away (as many people joked would happen when I was younger and thinner), but there you go.

I have to say, I’m slightly amused in general. While I suspect the lot of them will be rounded up and jailed, I’m not screaming for their blood like some are. Why would I? They’re just stupid scriptkiddies who thought they’d not get caught. Even the name is indicative of the fact that nobody was thinking of consequences, only notoriety. They are a product of their environment, one which is very fond of passing the blame rather than teaching the importance of responsibility. I don’t think the courts should be lenient, mind – I think they should feel the full brunt of their actions. I think everyone should – I suspect there’d be a lot less bullcrap in the world if people actually had to reap what they were sowing. Man, my kid is going to think I’m so mean… <___<

Having said that, I think it’s great to see people stand up for what they believe in, or against things that they think are ‘bad’. I am incredibly supportive of dissent and dissenters, even if I don’t agree with them. The world cannot change unless people are willing to stand up and disagree, and if we are not constantly changing and adapting, we might as well be dead. The place where I tend to depart from approval is when people turn violent or abusive to push home the point. I get that some will argue that you cannot get anyone to take you seriously if you do not behave ‘seriously’, but in my heart of hearts, I will always have hope that things can be discussed and worked out without violence or threats of. Whatever the case, one should not act unless they are willing to accept the consequences… but that’s just my opinion on that.

For now, I’m going to drag myself downstairs and try to get some dishes done… and harvest some ice. Hot water isn’t my ideal of refreshing!
