Food
I don’t mention food much, because normally? I don’t care about it. I’m not a foodie (though if you want an interesting one, I recommend Tasha over at Voracious), and am so meh about the whole concept of eating that it’s just stuff that goes in the mouth hole. I don’t generally hate it, I don’t generally love it – if I’m hungry, I’ll eat something to make the hunger go away enough for me to wander off and think about other things.
So it suffices to say that I’ve been surprising the hell out of myself this week by actually thinking about what I’m eating. Not like… in a diet and exercise sense (in spite of my apathy towards eating, I primarily eat healthily), but in a ‘I actually want to think about what I’m eating and make some new and interesting choices.’ Perhaps I’ve been eating too much bread and my body is rebelling at the lack of variety, but darn it – I want variety now! I’ve been scrambling eggs (yum), actually toasting my toast, and today? Today, Tasha gets the blame for – I made a smoothie. Because every single time she posts, she posts pictures of gorgeous smoothies, and I get a hankering.
Now, today was my first venture into smoothie-making, and I think it went primarily well. I found and followed a really basic recipe. I put a bit of ice in, the milk and the yogurt, and added some blueberries to compliment the strawberries. The end result was primarily satisfying, definitely filling, and a lesson learned. I made the mistake of grabbing plain yogurt, and that came out a teense too sour; my husband had to add a bit of sugar to his to finish it off. I’ll be doing the same tomorrow and until we use up the plain yogurt and replace it with either the vanilla or the strawberry recommended by the aforementioned recipe. The actual texture was great – the little bit made more than enough for both of us, and as I used the blender attachment on my Kenwood, it was definitely whipped up and lovely. I might put in a bit more ice next time, but… definitely, definitely a wonderful breakfast option. I topped it off with a slice of toast, the remaining two strawberries from the pack, and a few cherries, and I’m still not quite hungry, even though lunch time is drawing near!
As for lunch, I’m going to have a bit of fun there, too. I’ve got avocados that desperately need to be used up, so those are going to get sliced and diced and maybe even lemoned slightly if there’s the juice here for that. I also picked up coronation chicken sandwich filling, so I’m going to spread that lightly on some toast and eat it open-faced. The prospect of it excites me – it’ll be a change of pace, filling, and did I say a change of pace? Oh wait, I did. Okay, mayo isn’t the queen of foods, but I’ll forgive myself for this excess. *giggles*
Seriously though, what do people do to magic up new food ideas all the time? I’m not exactly a picky eater, but I just never have ideas that I consider both interesting and executable. Maybe I should take a class or something, ha ha…
Anyways, have a good day, and good eats! 😉

Oh yes, as I should shill myself once in awhile: If you like me, really like me (okay, what I’m writing, at least), why don’t you go vote for my blog? It won’t take you more than a click, and it strokes my kitty ego!
