These are a Few (of My Favorite Things)
I’m bunking off again today ’cause my head is being incredibly meaniemean to me. Maybe it’s just the weather, the pollen, but I feel all flat and gross; it’s not the finest way to be.
But! I am combating this as cheerfully as possible, and am doing it with the help of friends at that. For example, I received a letter in the mail today; like most people, I love receiving meaningful post. I also enjoy writing letters and all the little side things that can with it, so it perks me up to think about seeing where I put my pretty stationary/blank cards, and filling it with whatever meaningful blather I can muster.
I am also preparing what I deem the ultimate in comfort food – chicken and dumplings. I’ve had a bit of a hankering for weeks, and it always does better when it gets to properly slow cook. The chicken is defrosted and cooling before I go to poke at it a bit more, and then I need to fish out the crock pot and do it ‘right’. This includes carrots, cream of celery or celery salt (since I’m not making massive quantities, and want some cream of chicken up in there too), and making my dumplings by hand when the time is ripe. Plus, it makes me happy ’cause that’s a chore off my husband’s shoulders, enabling him to kick back and watch the Woman’s World Cup match tonight (England vs Japan; it should be good).
As for my last favorite of the day, that is, as ever, reserved for games and gaming. I’m on a bit of a LotRO kick again after watching the husband get back into it, and I’m enjoying a bit of the old grind. I’m also alternating that with bits of Anno 1404, and my perennial favourite – The Sims 3. I’m very happy to be feeling positive enough that I’ve not gotten bored of games and gaming; I know that I’m pushing into bad depression zones when that happens!
Anyways, I need to go find myself a safe place to stop in LotRO, and get the next stage of cooking together. Hope you guys have a good day, and y’know… aren’t too hung over from Fourth of July festivities (if you lean that way!)
