It Could Just Be Me
I find a lot of advertising worthy of sneering at, but rarely would I class it as far as being hateful. I have found something that I fully class as hateful now, though: Dove Body Language
I’m sorry, but why are you insisting that my skin wants me to hide behind sweaters? Are you honestly saying that I should be so completely ashamed of my dry skin as to never let it out in decent company unless I buy your product? Oh, I’m supposed to find it humourous, surely… but how can I when it is so crassly insulting? I’m debating dropping a line to the ASA to ask why such shame-oriented material is allowed onto the air. It’s not humourous – it’s cruel at best. And while I don’t expect it to get taken off the airwaves, I sincerely believe that letting them know what people think is good and not good will help to shape media to be less hateful. Okay, maybe that’s a losing battle, but I still want to fight it. 🙂 I do accept it could just be me who is bothered by this, so obviously, curious as to whether or not others can laugh this sort of thing off. I tried for months, but it’s such an obnoxious jingle that it just continues to drive me towards rage.
And feh on rage – it’s Sunday. I should get back to slacking off… and I shall! *grins*
