Pa..t.. Patience?
I got hit with a surprise yesterday, and one that hasn’t been actioned at that. Apparently, the husband has decided that we can and should get me a new laptop.
…
squee!
I’ve never had a new laptop. Both of mine were bought secondhand because frankly? I did, and still do, prefer the value for money that a desktop provides. But as time goes along and laptops become more powerful and acceptable options that are more value for money than mere portability, the thought of buying one new has obviously become something that I can countenance. Plus, the one I want is on sale… less another £50 if we manage to take advantage of a friend’s employee discount: Gimmeh gimmeh gimmeh!
Oh sure, I could buy a different brand and perhaps get a supposed better value; someone tried to tell me last night I should get the HP that was cheaper – EW and NEVER! And while I’ll never understand paying say… twice the cost for a fruit doodle, I’m happy to pay a few extra bucks for a brand that I know, trust, and like in the laptop market. Plus, all that sexy RAM… mmm.. *drools*
I just wish I had it nownownow though, if I’m perfectly honest. I’m sure that I’ll have it no later than tomorrow night, but stiiiiill… I’m much too excited, and ready to knuckle down and see about getting everything from here transfered over to there.
It’s not the only computer work I need to do – my PC is still stuck in the XP days. Which was fine to a point; I used to DJ on an internet radio station, and it was easier to rig it up in XP. I’ve heard it was fine once Windows 7 came around, but the Vista time period… I seem to recall that being problematic. I purposefully kept myself back in XP for the sake of DJing, but now that I’m not, I want to unlock the power of my quadcore. It’s been pretty much useless to me to date, and well… that’s kind of lame. So considering that my PC is coming up on 3? 4? years old, I’d kiiind of want to make the most of it! At least it’s got a newer, shinier graphics card in it and runs pretty darn well still, so… can’t complain too too much.
For now, back to wiping up my drool puddle and trying to not be too bratty while I’m waiting. 😉 It’s not too much to dream of the day I can have the Sims and Excel running though, right? Right?! Right!
