And Can We Say – Whew?
Social media talks about rioting ‘constructive’

That is to say, the government isn’t rushing headlong to become the next China, Egypt, or Syria. I can understand the concern and worry considering the UK government seems to LOVE to overreact to many things, and true, the suggestion itself was exactly that. I guess that, for the sake of my sanity as a new citizen, I had to believe they’d not take the accolades from China, and would rather protect freedom of speech. Sort of.
Having said that, I’m still raising an eyebrow at the ridiculously huge sentences being handed down to rioters/inciters. Yes, people deserve to face the law and be judged accordingly. But do a couple of words shouted into cyberspace warrant years in prison as a first offence? Some might argue that yes, that’s the only way to make people think about their actions. I’m not so sure – I think that we could be better utilising these folks somehow, though how isn’t for me to say. I do think that people as a whole need to have a better understanding of actions and their consequences, though!
Whatever the case, I hope that everyone continues to be attentive to government actions and to horde their freedoms, ’cause y’know… nobody else is gonna do it for us. *grins*
