Downing Street forces U-turn on Nadine Dorries abortion proposals

Can we say whew? Whew! Granted, this doesn’t magically make it go away – it’s still not been determined if it’s going to be up for discussion as such, but I’m glad the government is planning on saying no. And for those who might be confused as to why extra counseling is a bad thing – I offer a good point of view from a few months back that manages to explain it with significantly less splutter and gah-ing:
Nadine Dorries’ abortion amendments: Sound reasonable?

Finally, if you’re the kind of person who can actually make real head or tail of legislation, the bill is here: http://services.parliament.uk/bills/2010-11/healthandsocialcare.html I’m trying to pick through and find the relevant bits so that I may know before writing to my MP, but eesh… it’s hard going. I *need* to write him, I feel – Miss Nutcase Dorris is one of our local MPs, and while not mine specifically, I know that they with the Parliamentary Under Secretary of State that make up the Bedford trifecta often put their eggs into the same basket ‘for our good’. So while I hope he’s bright enough to vote against crazy ‘pro-women’ lady…
I think that’s it of importance for the exact second. I’ve got a free-from-everyone day today, and I’m going to get to enjoying it.
