All these nice links, but they’re superseded by saving the movement itself:

City Offers New Location To Occupy Dallas

And I’m sure that there are others. The gist of the matter is that there seems to be some sincere dedication towards slapping down the movement before it can take off any further (for example, the London occupation starts tomorrow). I am cautiously pleased that the city of Dallas is still trying to work with protesters, though I’m not seeing how the proffered space is going to be any better at meeting the sanitary needs that the occupation are currently trying to get permission for.
Whatever the case, check out the status of your local occupation protest and see how you can help keep them going for your own sake. Oh sure, I get that some are trendily claiming all these people are the 47% who are currently not paying taxes… but how is that their fault? Yes, lifting too many people out of tax is a Bad Thing™® (see Ireland), and once you’ve taken off a tax, it’s devilishly hard to put it back on. So why are people trying to make this a partisan issue solely the fault of the left when most are carry-ons of Bush-era policies? The poor are still paying their taxes in other ways (sales tax, capital gains, property and land taxes, etc), so why is it mete to continue kicking those who are down instead of expecting those who have everything to cough up their due? Yes sure, people all over the spectrum have the wrong priorities of spending, but that’s something society needs to address together. Not sit and pick at each other and play your side or my side – together. So if you’re not really willing to work with everyone else… you might just be the problem, whatever high and mighty throne you think you might occupy. ;D
But that’s just my opinion, and you’re fully entitled to yours as well. That’s what’s great about this world – we’re all entitled to think the way we want to. And I think, for now, I shall wish you all a good weekend, and go back to doing my thing here.
