Tomorrow is the Day!
That is – Bank Transfer Day. And while it is not required to switch on that day, it’s still a good thinking point. I closed two of my Bank of America accounts this past month (though I had intended to close them anyways, to be fair), and transferred the third completely to my mother, the co-signatory on it.
This is rather America oriented (not orientated *cough*), but it is a fantastic piece for your consideration:
4 Simple Steps for Taking Your Money Out of the Vampire Banks

It seems to provide some useful tools and information, at the very least. And if you’re concerned about fighting with people in branch, see if you can close your account via online banking. It worked for me, and I have hopes it can work for others.
If you need further inspiration to help you consider making the move, why not read this:
Thirty Of America’s Most Profitable Companies Paid ‘Less Than Zero’ In Income Taxes In Last 3 Years: Report

‘The financial services industry netted the largest share — at 16.8 percent — of the $222.7 billion in total tax subsidies that the companies received, the study found. Wells Fargo took home the most tax subsidies of them all, raking in nearly $18 billion in tax breaks over the last three years. ‘
Hrm, how peculiar… remind me again why they need to charge mega-fees to keep afloat? I know that we’ve seen a victory in the fees department in the past week, but still – it’s much better to get them where it hurts and move your money elsewhere.
And speaking of money, could we actually see the end to the bullshit claim that corporations are people and have a right to buy out the government?
Citizens United Going Down? Democrats Introduce Constitutional Amendment To Overturn Ruling

Wait, someone in government actually trying to *gasp* do their job without being bought? Amaaaazing. This is definitely a thing to keep an eye on. I’d love to see a day where politicians don’t have so much money to hemmorage on the name-calling BS that is the status quo today. We’ve already seen where blowing too much has worked against a candidate, so hopefully the message will continue to get louder – quit wasting money and get to work already.
Hope your Friday is fantastic, and I’ll hopefully have some decent muck to serve up tomorrow. 😉
