Hola There
I realize that this blog has become more link spam than commentary; for this, I am slightly contrite. But only slightly – I think it’s good and useful linkspam to help explain a fantastic ongoing social movement that might just change the world. It might not, but nothing will change if people don’t try.
I had been thinking writing about why I support the movement, and I realized that I could sum it up fairly succinctly – I’ve been there most of my life. My parents definitely had a helping hand from the government atop working their fingers to the bones, and well… hrm… oh right – mental health issues! I think I’ve said it in the past, and I’ll say it again – America will do herself a huge favor when she actually acknowledges that many people in poor economical straits are neither lazy nor criminal. We as a people tend to sweep the mentally ill under the rug, or make saccharine caricatures to amuse the general populace. Helping people help themselves is never a waste of resources, and it would do the populations of the world to be mindful of that. Putting people down so you can be ‘better’ than someone loses the game for everyone – it’s a hollow victory, and that person you put down? Maybe you’ll push them over the edge. Maybe you’ve lost the best friend you never had. All in all, it doesn’t pay to play the games that modern society pushes as not only acceptable, but the must-do things.
Maybe I’ll say more tomorrow, or different-but-related things. But for now, I’ve got a lot of combing to do to annoy my poor doctor with. Examples of my thoughts from my blogs I offered, and he’s going to get a buttload. *beams*
Have yourselves a good day, in the interim!
