6 Stories That You May Have Missed From the Occupy Movement

This is a nice round-up by one of my old classmates. It hits many of the salient points that people might not be aware of as camps are cleared. It boils down to what I and many have been saying – the movement is still ongoing, and the movement is still strong.

Fair and balanced, my ass.
What Is The Real Cost Of Military Equipment?
http://front.moveon.org/what-is-the-real-cost-of-military-equipment/
One thing I notice time and time again is how up in arms people get when they hear that say… social program X costs the government $500 million a year. People get up in arms – that’s so much money it must be the entire budget, those filthy welfare queens! They somehow miss that the budget is more along the lines of 3.4 trillion dollars; 500 million is peanuts by comparison. And of course, the largest chunk of the US’ government spending is on the military, hence it being ideal for one to understand how much money we’re blowing to play world police for a world that doesn’t think we should be performing such a role.
Finally, having only just stumbled across this:
Occupy Educated
http://occupyeducated.org/
One of the big reasons America is in the state it is in is due to a lack of education. I’ve said it before, and I’ll say it again – college isn’t an education; it’s a piece of paper, a debt, and a cubicle in way too many cases. Or, my least favorite – I will see college graduates think said paper entitles them to never need to learn anything ever again; after all, nobody wants to be the universally slated nerd. It’s all a rather nasty trap to keep people prideful and ignorant and prideful of their ignorance, and it’s obviously coming to a head at last. So please, make use of this site and get some ideas on ways to educate yourself on what’s really happening in the world, rather than with trash TV. 😉
Have a great day!
