As I’ve Lost My Train of Thought…
I totally had a great idea to write about either last night or this morning, but it escaped. Isn’t that always the way? So instead of wracking my brain and guzzling up this beautiful weekend day (which I’m spending indoors at my computers, ’cause that’s what good little geek girls do to preserve their translucent skin), I figured I’d take a minute to point out the danger of The Cyber Intelligence Sharing and Protection Act (CISPA). Like its predecessors SOPA and PIPA, it’s more of the same scary hockum claiming to protect us while aiding in the further destruction of privacy. I’ll let you do what reading you want to do (though obviously, you can find pieces at Alternet, eWeek, PCWorld… y’know, whatever Google’ll dredge up for you), but if you are already nerd-raging and wish to complain to your representatives in government, I present you this:
Don’t Let Congress Use “Cybersecurity” Fears to Trample on Civil Liberties
https://wfc2.wiredforchange.com/o/9042/p/dia/action/public/?action_KEY=8444
Basically, it looks up your Congressperson and Senators by your address, and then enables you to send them a short letter (pre-written, though you can add to it). It won’t take you any time at all, and every little comment sent is well… another attempt to remind these people that they’re supposed to be working for us. 🙂
